Nella meta’ del XIX secolo, il Commodoro Perry, a bordo di velieri dal color nero, fu inviato dal presidente americano Fillmore nel Giappone che non voleva aprirsi al commercio con l’estero. Approdato a Yokosuka, con la minaccia dei propri cannoni, riusci’ dove molti avevano fallito. Stipulo’ un trattato d’amicizia e pace tra America e Giappone. In the middle of 19th century, Commodore Perry was sent by american president Fillmore on a mission to Japan to establish a commercial treaty. At that time, Japan was closed to western countries but thanks to the persuasive strenght of his fleet’s cannons, he succeded in making a treaty of peace and amity between the United States and Japan.
